Former France coach Raymond Domenech made his coaching comeback on Saturday, at the helm of an under-11s team from a suburb west of Paris.
Domenech, sacked as coach of France after their disastrous World Cup campaign, has voluntarily offered to coach one of the junior teams at Athletic Club de Boulogne-Billancourt.
His first engagement saw his new side win 6-1 against the under-11s team of Suresnes. "I need to breathe, to reconstruct myself," a relaxed Domenech told reporters before the match at the Maurice-Hubert stadium in Rueil-Malmaison.
"I spent six years in a difficult job. A page has been turned and I want to enjoy myself." The 58-year-old, who is claiming damages from the French Football Federation over his dismissal, said he will work with the youngsters "until the end of the year".
"It's been a long time since I had so much fun," Domenech explained, adding that, compared to coaching adults, "there is not that demand for results".
