They (selectors) should go for it. Taking into consideration Prithvi's current form and consistent performance, he should consider playing now for Mumbai's under-23 team," Hattangadi told mid-day yesterday.
"It is up to the selectors how they feel about someone's progress and about his readiness to face a challenge. It is the selectors' vision, how they think about a player's performance," Hattangadi added.
Hattangadi also advised Shaw to concentrate on scoring runs instead of thinking about selection issues. "I am following his progress only because of his runs on the scorecard, which seems very good and impressive.
He should not worry about his selection because that is never in his hand. He just needs to concentrate on scoring runs," Hattangadi explained.

Ahmedabad-based Hattangadi played for Mumbai with distinction in the 1980s and early 1990s. He opened with Sunil Gavaskar on quite a few occasions and was a Mumbai selector. He recently applied for a junior national selector's post.
