Mumbai skipper Tare and Yadav landed on Saturday morning from Cuttack after playing the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament and headed straight to the Parsee Gymkhana to help their club in a crucial match.
"This shows real commitment towards the game. Though Tare (10) and Yadav (22) did not score big runs, their presence in this important game was vital and made a big difference," Parsee Gym vice-president Khodadad Yazdegardi told mid-day. Parsee Gym have entered the Purshottam final for the first time.
Karan Nandye (112) helped Fort Vijay CC score 297 as Parsee Gymkhana's leg spinner Raunak Sharma claimed four for 64. In reply, Gomel (105) and Marathe (97) laid the foundation for Parsee Gymkhana's victory as they scored 298 for four in 47.5 overs.
The Purshottam Shield final will be played from January 22 to 24 at the PJ Hindu Gymkhana.
