She was taken to jail in the same trousers she was arrested in.
"I will not pay a penny, I'd rather go to prison," she declared on hearing the verdict.
Ten other women arrested with Hussein had pleaded guilty to the charge of indecency and been flogged. But Hussein, a journalist who worked for the United Nations, refused to accept her summary punishment.

Her job would have afforded Hussein immunity from prosecution, but she resigned from the post to fight the indecency charge.
