Beijing: Sixteen workers were killed and 11 others injured after a coal mine collapsed in China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The accident occurred in the regional capital Urumqi late last night when 33 workers were working underground. Six of them managed to escape, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
The injured workers have been hospitalized. The cause of the accident is being investigated in an orderly manner, the report said.
