Lenny B Robinson, 51-yr-old man who drove a custom-made Batmobile and dressed as the caped crusader to visit hospitalised children, was struck by a car on a highway near Maryland, after his Batmobile broke down
Washington: Lenny Robinson, locally known simply as Batman, died on Sunday night in Hagerstown, Maryland, when he was struck by traffic after his 'Batmobile' broke down on the side of the road. The 51-year-old, also known as 'Route 29 Batman' was known for dressing up in a Batman's costume to cheer up sick children in hospital.

Unfortunate accident
Robinson's Batmobile, a custom Lamborghini, broke down on Interstate 70 near Hagerstown, Md. He was on his way home from a car show when the accident occurred.
The Batmobile was experiencing engine troubles, so the 51-year-old Maryland native pulled over. His car was still partially in the eastbound passing lane when it was struck by a Toyota Camry, slamming Robinson's car into him. The Camry's driver was uninjured. He was pronounced dead on scene. No charges have been filed, and Maryland State Police are continuing to investigate the crash.
Robinson, a father of three boys, worked in the cleaning business before buying an elaborate batman costume and the car.
Claim to fame
Robinson became an Internet sensation in 2012 after police footage of him being pulled over in full costume for his Batman license plates went viral. The police dash cam displayed a humorous exchange as Robinson explained to police that his vehicle tags were inside his vehicle. A simple license plate would not do for the Batmobile; it was outfitted with a bat symbol.
