A video of a man saving his pet dog from a deadly bear attack is going viral on social media. The man has been identified as Walter Hickox and the incident occurred at his home in Daytona Beach in Florida, USA.


The clip was posted on Instagram handle Viral Hog shows Hickox jumping to his pet dog's rescue as the black bear tried to enter what appears to be the front porch. According to Daily Mail, Hickox suffered scratches and was also bitten by the bear. He also tried to barricade the doorway with a bench to stop the animal from entering the porch.

"Not a lot went through my head at the moment, other than what’s going to happen if he gets past me and into the house where the rest of my dogs and my wife were at," Hickox told WFTV9.

The daredevilry of Hickox was applauded by netizens on social media. One user called Hickox "Dog dad of the year" for his bravery. Meanwhile, another user perfectly summed up the situation and called him "Legend".

As per Daytona Beach Police, it was the second bear attack in the area over the last week. The video has garnered over 97,000 views on social media.
