Airport officials detain 78-year-old Florida woman who padded her bra and girdle with USD 40,000 to take it to Philippines
Florida: A 78-year-old woman from Florida attracted attention at a US airport recently when she padded her bra and girdle with $40,000 in cash. Victoria Faren hid the dough in her clothing and carry-on baggage while trying to board a flight from Detroit to the Philippines.

Customs officers got suspicious when Faren first declared having $200 in cash but later said the amount was $1,200, according to documents filed in Michigan federal court. Federal agents found $8,000 in her carry-on bag and $4,977 sewn into a cloth pouch and sealed envelops in her bag, already past the $10,000 threshold at which travellers must declare the cash they are taking abroad. Noticing bulges in her girdle, Faren was checked and agents found $21,000 stuffed inside it. To add to that, they reclaimed $3,000 from her blouse and $2,000 that was sewn in her bra strap. Faren, in her confession, said all she wanted to do was take the money, $120,000, she earned from the sale of her house, to Philippines where she thought it would be safer.
