Fifty-three-year-old adman wrote his comic obituary
Pennsylvania: Described as the ‘life of a party’, Kevin McGroarty, from West Pittston, Pennsylvania wrote his own, 500-word obituary last year. He died on July 22, this year.
The starting line of his piece read: McGroarty Achieves Room Temperature!
McGroarty added that “he enjoyed elaborate practical jokes, over-tipping in restaurants, sushi and Marx Brother’s movies.” As for kids, he wrote, “McGroarty leaves behind no children (that he knows of).”
The 53-year-old was suffering from various health issues for years. He gave the obituary to a friend, who passed it to a newspaper. Given his playful character, his friends were not shocked.
His obituary has, so far, got thousands of shares and hundreds of comments. One final tech note on McGroarty’s obituary was his reminder to friends: “Please, don’t email me, I’m dead.”
