The case of Ahmed Mansour Karmi has caused outcry — with one lawyer saying it showed there was 'no justice in Egypt'. He was sentenced among 115 other defendants for the same offences.
Defence lawyer Faisal al-Sayd said that the child's name had been added to the list by mistake. "The child Ahmed Mansour Karni's birth certificate was presented to the court, but then the case was transferred to the military court and the child was sentenced in absentia in an ensuing court hearing," he said.
