Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan

Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday launched a scathing attack at the AAP-Congress alliance in Delhi and called it a "thagbandhan" (alliance of cheats). Chouhan also accused AAP of becoming "arrogant" and termed it "Ahankaari Aadmi Party".

He made the remarks while addressing different public meetings in North East Delhi, North West Delhi and West Delhi Lok Sabha constituencies in support of BJP candidates Manoj Tiwari, Yogendra Chandoliya and Kamaljeet Sahrawat. At Burari in northeast Delhi, Chouhan slammed the Aam Aadmi Party for forming an alliance with the Congress, despite coming into existence by protesting against the party.

He accused the Congress of being "unhappy' with the construction of Ram temple and said that it refused to attend the consecration ceremony of Lord Ram. Chouhan also hit out at the alleged assault of AAP MP Swati Maliwal at the chief minister's residence as well as AAP's demonstration, led by CM Arvind Kejriwal, near the BJP headquarters earlier on Sunday against the arrest of its leaders.

Terming the AAP as an "anti-woman" party, Chouhan said, "In Delhi, AAP and the Congress have formed an alliance. They have joined hands with the same party against whom they protested and rose to power. AAP has now become 'Ahankaari Aadmi Party'. They should be ashamed that their own MP was insulted and beaten at the CM's residence. Why didn't he meet her?" Chouhan said.

He also listed a number of schemes introduced by the BJP-led Centre for women empowerment and called the Narendra Modi government "respectful towards women". "The BJP ensured that no woman is left poor in the country. We gave monetary incentives to girls pursuing education, made so many women 'Lakhpati didi' and 'Lakhpati Behna'. That's why they call me mama (mother's brother)," he said.

Attacking Kanhaiya Kumar, the Congress candidate from the North East Delhi, as an "anti-national", Chouhan claimed that he had raised "anti-India" slogans. "Manoj Tiwari is the true devotee of India's culture. Kanhaiya on the other hand, talked about breaking India into pieces. On May 25, you have to make the BJP win and teach a lesson to the Congress," he said.

The former MP CM also attacked the opposition INDIA bloc for not announcing its prime ministerial face. Chouhan appealed to those gathered at the meetings to vote for BJP candidates, asserting that "because of Modi ji, India's reputation has grown in the global arena.

Voting in seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi will be held on May 25.
