Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and accused him of tarnishing democracy by not speaking in Parliament and instead making political speeches outside.

“Today, people have become aware and they will fight and continue to do so... This means you do not want to talk in Parliament—the temple of democracy, and want to give a political speech in Rajasthan while opening new medical colleges,” he told reporters outside Parliament.

Modi on Thursday addressed a public rally in Sikar, ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in Rajasthan. Modi took a dig at the opposition, particularly the Congress, saying the slogan ‘Indira is India and India is Indira’ during the era of former PM Indira Gandhi has now changed to ‘UPA is India and India is UPA’.
Later, he inaugurated an international airport near Rajkot city in Gujarat.

CBI to probe sex assault case

The CBI will probe the case of sexual assault on two women who were stripped and paraded by a mob in Manipur, a top government functionary told PTI on Thursday. The government will seek the trial of the case, the details of which came out in the open last week through the leak of the video of the incident, in Assam, the official said.
