Tuesday night in the Odisha region of Kandhamal, a speeding bus lost control at a hairpin corner and overturned, leaving two people dead and numerous others injured. The bus was carrying fifty people when it crashed, according to the authorities. It was travelling from Muniguda in the Rayagada district to Phulbani in the Kandhamal district.


The bus was travelling at a high pace when it had an accident close to Phiringia at a steep turn. Following the event, nearby residents and the police department hurried to the scene to transport the injured to a hospital. The deceased were identified as 17-year-old Arjun Kanhar and ticket conductor Bijaya Patnaik.


SDM Phulbani, Chittaranjan Mahanta, who reached the hospital said, "Two people died and nine others were injured and admitted to the hospital. There were around 50 passengers on the bus. The bus overturned at a turning in Phiringia as the driver lost control because of overspeeding."
