Maharashtra becomes first and only state to fully vaccinate 1 crore people: Aaditya Thackeray

The state Cabinet Minister of Tourism and Environment, Aaditya Thackeray informed on Monday that Maharashtra became the first and only state to fully vaccinate (both doses) 1 crore people even amidst challenges.


Maharashtra on July 25 has vaccinated 1,14,568 people through 705 centres. According to government statistics, 4,13,19,105 people in the state were inoculated as of 7 am, July 26.



State government's data revealed that 1,04,16,614 individuals of the 18 to 44 age group received their first vaccine dose and 4,59,927 received their second dose since the vaccination drive for this age group began on May 1.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said on Saturday said that the state government is considering granting exemptions from coronavirus-induced restrictions to the fully-vaccinated people.

Speaking to reporters, Pawar also said the government was mulling an extension of the timings of shops and restaurants from the current deadline of 4 pm. He said a decision on granting relaxations on the weekends is likely next week.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra on Sunday reported 6,843 new Covid-19 cases and 123 fatalities, raising the overall tally to 62,64,922 and the toll to 1,31,552, the state health department said.
