Encounters between police and Maoists are always tense situations, but it seems the Gadchiroli Police successfully thwarted a potentially dangerous situation. Neutralizing senior cadres and dismantling a Dalam is a significant achievement in maintaining security in the region. The seizure of automatic weapons further demonstrates the severity of the threat posed.


Gadchiroli Police thwarts the attempt of Maoists to carry out subversive activities during the ongoing TCOC period. As per the police report, three hardcore Maoists were neutralized during the encounter. 


The three include one Senior Cadre of the rank of DVCM (Divisional Committee Member) along with one Coy. Member and one Dalam member are been neutralised. The Maharashtra Government had announced a total cash reward of Rs. 22 Lakhs cumulatively on them. In the operation, the police seized three automatic weapons from the spot. With this exchange of fire entire Perimili Dalam has been wiped off.


The police said credible information was received this morning that some members of Perimili Dalam are camping in the forest area near Katrangatta village in Bhamragad Taluka with an aim to carry out subversive activities during the ongoing TCOC period. Accordingly, two units of anti-Maoist C-60 squad led by Additional SP (Operations) Yatish Deshmukh were immediately dispatched for the area search. "While the teams were doing area search operation, they were fired indiscriminately by the Maoists, which were retaliated strongly by the C-60 teams. Eventually, the Maoists managed to flee into the dense forest upon witnessing the increasing police pressure," said a police officer. 

The police further said, "After the Exchange of Fire, searching of the area has led to recovery of one male and two female Maoists dead bodies. The dead Maoists have been identified as Wasu Samar Korcha, a resident of Godia East Bastar Area (CG) (DVCM), Commander of Perimili Dalam. He was directly involved in a total of seven serious crimes such as one Murder, five Encounter and one Dacoity. The Government had announced a total reward of Rs. 16 lakh on him. The second is identified as Reshma Madkam 25, resident of Bastar Area (CG) Member of Coy, 10, recently given responsibility in Perimili Dalam. She was directly involved in a total of six serious crimes such as one Murder and five Encounter. The Government had announced a total reward of Rs 4 lakh for her. The third was identified as Kamla Madavi 24, a resident of South Bastar Area (CG) a member of Perimili Dalam. She was directly involved in a total of seven serious crimes such as two Murder cases and Encounters. The Government had announced a total reward of Rs 2 lakh on her," said the officer. 

The police in the operation had seized weapons including three automatic weapons-1 AK47, 1 Carbine and I INSAS. Maoist literature and belongings have also been recovered from the firing spot.

This successful operation was carried out under the guidance of Special IG, ANO, Sandip Patil, DIG Gadchiroli Range, Ankit Goyal, SP Gadchiroli, Neelotpal, Additional SP, (Ops), Yatish Deshmukh, Additional SP (Admn.), Kumar Chintha, Additional SP, Aheri M. Ramesh and DySP. (Ops) Vishal Nagargoje. Anti-Maoist operations are being further intensified in this region. The Ops team has been appreciated for their exceptional performance during the operation in this tough terrain. SP Gadchiroli Neelotpal has urged all Maoists to surrender and join the mainstream of development.
