NCP (SP) president Sharad Pawar on Saturday alleged Prime Minister Narendra Modi doesn't think of the country from a broader perspective and has failed to keep his promises, reported news agency PTI.

Sharad Pawar participated in a Lok Sabha elections 2024 rally organised in support of his daughter and sitting Baramati MP Supriya Sule.

Baramati goes to polls on May 7 during the third phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024.

"PM Modi doesn't think about the country from a broader perspective and doesn't keep his promises. Chief Ministers are put behind bars which is wrong. (Delhi CM) Arvind Kejriwal is a fine leader and he has done many good things," Pawar added, reported PTI.

Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 and is currently lodged in Tihar jail under judicial custody.

Pawar reiterated his praise for Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and targeted Modi for calling him a "shehzada" (prince).

"We never brought politics in developmental projects. We have no problem with Modi visiting multiple locations but everywhere he is criticising Rahul Gandhi. To understand the problems of people, Rahul conducted a campaign (yatra). Rahul's grandmother (Indira Gandhi) and father (Rajiv Gandhi) were killed while serving the nation (as prime ministers)," he said, reported PTI.

Earier, Nationalist Congress Party (SP) supremo Sharad Pawar criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said he is reducing the dignity of his position by regularly criticising the Gandhi family, reported ANI.

Sharad Pawar was campaigning in Mukhtainagar in Maharashtra in support of party candidate Shriram Patil, who has been fielded from the Raver seat in Jalgaon.

Addressing a public meeting amid ongoing Lok Sabha elections 2024, Pawar said, "PM Modi said in 2014, that prices of petrol-diesel will be reduced, price of gas cylinder will be reduced. At that time, the cylinder cost Rs 400, today it costs Rs 1100. Government should work for people's welfare."

"Arvind Kejriwal was jailed for criticising PM Modi. Should power be misused like this? Rahul Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, the Gandhi family, everyone faced criticism," he added.

He said that Congress has contributed a lot for this nation and PM Modi should be proud of them.
