India recorded a single-day rise of 1,65,553 new Covid-19 cases, the lowest in 46 days, and 3,460 deaths, according to Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday morning. The ministry said the Centre will in June supply to states and Union territories 6.09 crore doses vaccines “for priority group of health care workers, frontline workers and people aged 45 years and above as free supply.” “In addition, over 5.86 crore doses will be available for direct procurement by the state/UTs and Private Hospitals.

Earlier in the month, several bodies were seen floating in the Ganga and Yamuna rivers in the state, triggering apprehensions that these were of Covid-19 patients.
Tribals hide in forest

The Maharaja of Kutch, Maharrao Pragmalji III, the titular ruler of the Jadeja dynasty of the erstwhile Kutch state, died of complications related to Covid-19, sources in the royal family said on Sunday. The Maharaja, 85, had no children and with his death, the throne remains vacant as he did not name a heir apparent, they said.
