For the first time since Independence, the Modi government removed 25 crore people out of poverty, said Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday. He also accused the INDIA bloc leaders of misleading the nation, reported news agency ANI.

Addressing a public meeting in Patna, Rajnath Singh said, "I have seen the period of rule of Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and Manmohan Singh. They all claimed to end poverty once they came to power, but poverty never came to an end," reported ANI.

"Post-Independence, for the first time, the Narendra Modi government has been successful in bringing 25 crore people out of poverty....The entire world acknowledges that India is the fastest-growing economy....India's stature on the international stage has increased....," he said, reported ANI.

The senior BJP leader added, "The leaders in opposition are misleading the nation, accusing us doing the politics of Hindu-Muslim. We will take every section of society....They don't have any real issues... They want to win the support of the public by misleading them."

He added, "The five countries of the Arab Muslim world bestowed their top honour on Prime Minister Narendra Modi," reported ANI.

In the final phase of the India General Elections 2024, Singh addressed four election meetings in Bihar.

"We do politics not to form a government but to build a country. It is for building the self-respect, honour, and dignity of the country. Earlier, during the rule of Congress, terrorist incidents used to happen regularly. Now it rarely happens," he said at a rally in Buxar, reported ANI.

Six phases of the India General Elections 2024 are over and the final phase will be held on June 1 in 57 constituencies in eight States and Union territories.

The counting and results will be declared on June 4.
