The top leaders of the opposition INDIA alliance are likely to meet on June 1 to assess their performance in the Lok Sabha elections and plot their strategy ahead of the results.

News agency PTI quoted their sources saying that the meeting would take place in Delhi on the afternoon of June 1, coinciding with the last phase of India General Elections 2024. Before the results are released on June 4, the opposition leaders will debate their strategy and assess their performance in the seven-phase elections.

The opposition alliance thinks it can stop the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) from maintaining power by forming its own government. following India General Elections 2024 Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress chief, has called the meeting, according to PTI.

Meanwhile, the ruling alliance led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is confident of securing a third consecutive term in government, the news agency report added.

The INDIA bloc, initially formed by twenty-eight opposition parties, has seen some parties like Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United) and the Rashtriya Lok Dal switch to the NDA.

India General Elections 2024: PM Modi says INDIA alliance defeated in 5th phase

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, throughout his campaigns for India General Elections 2024, has been attacking the INDIA bloc; he even has made remarks accusing them of "enslavement" and carrying out "mujra" to gain Muslim votes.

After the fifth phase of India General Elections 2024, PM Modi said the INDIA bloc had been decisively defeated.

PM Modi said, "In the fifth phase, the INDI alliance has been completely defeated. India of the 21st Century cannot move forward with the sins of the INDI alliance. And that is why in every election the public is strongly attacking parties like Congress and RJD. On June 4, there will be an attack on corruption, politics of appeasement, tukde tukde gang..."

He targeted Congress, and its allies and further criticised the INDIA bloc, he said that they were solely interested in mistreating him and had no other goals. "I have heard that someone is roaming around here saying that after June 4, he will give bed rest to Modi. I wish that no citizen of the country needs bed rest. May every citizen of the country be filled with energy and celebration. These people have no other issue in this election except abusing Modi," he had said and added, "INDI alliance leaders, the country can no longer be run as per your whims and desires. Modi might be a thorn in the eyes of the people of the INDI alliance...But Modi is in the heart of the country...Modi is in every heart."
