Pune railway division had announced the construction of 2 FOBs, installation of 4 escalators and a few lifts at the station, but the projects are yet to see the light of day
It has been over a year since the Pune railway division announced construction of two foot-over bridges (FOBs), and the installation of four escalators and a few lifts, but the actual construction work is yet to see the light of day.

The main purpose of this project was to assist the 1.5 lakh passengers who use the station daily. While one of the FOBs is supposed to come up at the Solapur-end of the station, the other one will be at Tadiwala Road.
Commenting on the FOBs, a railway official said the width of both the structures will be 4.5 metres. While one will connect platforms one to six, the other will bridge the gap from platform number one to three.
“We also intend to install four escalators, two on platform number one and the remaining two on platform number six. Lifts will be installed at platforms two, three, four and five. The project has been sanctioned by the Union railway ministry. Its execution has been delayed due to non-availability of funds.”
But Pune railway division PRO Yogendra Kumar Singh had a different version on the progress of the project.
“The proposal is lying with the central ministry. Once they pass the tender, only then the work can be sanctioned. And only after sanctioning the work, we can comment on its completion.”
Passengerspeak
Kothrud resident Deepak Gaikwad said, “With the number of trains and passengers increasing with each passing day, Pune station needs more FOBs. It will make life easier for passengers.”
Zeeshan Ahmed, a resident of Kondhwa, said, “Escalators and lifts will be a boon for the passengers, especially for senior citizens and pregnant women. But railway officials must ensure that they are maintained properly.”
