President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and other political leaders greeted people on Vijayadashami, also known as Dussehra.

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar extended greetings on Dussehra, saying the festival reinforces faith in righteousness. "I extend my heartiest greetings and good wishes to all on the happy occasion of Dussehra. Symbolising the victory of good over evil, Dussehra reinforces our faith in ‘Dharma’ or righteousness. May this festival bring peace, prosperity and happiness in our lives," the Vice President Secretariat tweeted, quoting Dhankhar.

PM Modi greeted people on Vijayadashami and said the festival is symbolic of victory. In a tweet, he wished courage, restraint and positive energy to everyone on this auspicious occasion. "Many many congratulations to all the countrymen on Vijayadashami, the symbol of victory. I wish that this auspicious occasion brings courage, restraint and positive energy in everyone’s life," PM Modi tweeted in Hindi.

Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde and deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis and UP CM Yogi Adityanath also extended their greetings to the nation on Vijayadashami.
Dussehra, also called Vijayadashami, is an important festival for Hindus. The festival symbolises the victory of good over evil. It marks the triumph of Lord Ram over the ten-headed demon king Ravan.
