India added 15,906 new Covid-19 infections, slightly lower than the tally recorded the day before (16,326), and the active cases also declined to 1,72,594, according to the Union health ministry’s data updated on Sunday morning. The death toll climbed to 4,54,269 with 561 fresh Covid fatalities. Kerala reconciled 399 deaths from the previous period. Hence, the death toll is higher, officials said.


‘No food to unvaxxed’



The residents of Gaya, Bihar, who have not taken the Covid-19 vaccine will have to face legal action and they will not be entitled to receive food from government shops on subsidised rates, Abhishek Singh, the district magistrate of Gaya, has said in an order.


“Officials have been asked to find people who have not taken vaccine and intimate them to take the vaccines at the earliest. In case of refusal, they have to face legal action. The district administration has the right to register FIR under Epidemic Diseases Act, 2005. “The owners of the government shops have been directed to sell foods only to those who present certificates of Covid-19 vaccine after October 31,” he said.
