Reacting to the case, Congress General Secretary for Communications, Jairam Ramesh, claimed on Friday that no rules had been broken during the yatra. He accused Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma of intentionally trying to hinder people from joining the yatra.
"No rules have been broken. The Assam CM is making all sorts of attempts to stop people from joining the Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra. No one can stop this yatra. We will be in Assam for the next seven days. Let them arrest us; we accept the challenge," Ramesh told newswire ANI.
Senior Congress MP KC Venugopal supported the continuation of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra despite the FIR, asserting that it would proceed until reaching its destination in Maharashtra.

"They (police) can register FIR against anybody. But Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will go to Mumbai. We will fulfill our slogans. We will continue this Yatra with great emotion and strength," Venugopal told ANI.
Venugopal further claimed that Chief Minister Sarma's reaction is fueled by fear of being exposed as the 'most corrupt' chief minister. “Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is going to narrate the story of how he is looting the state of Assam. He is scared of this. The public reception to the yatra is also making him scared," he added.
Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi echoed similar sentiments, stating that the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra enjoys public support, and no government can halt its progress. "We are a democracy, and no government can stop us from taking the Yatra to its desired end. We will go wherever people will call us," Gogoi asserted.
The controversy emerged on Thursday when Jorhat Police registered a case against individuals associated with the yatra for alleged route deviation. The yatra, aimed at uniting the nation, entered Assam amid heightened tensions. (With inputs from newswire ANI)
