A case of two youths being thrashed by a duo for allegedly stealing a mobile phone has come to light after videos of the episode, shot on a railway platform and the coach of a local train, went viral

A case of two youths being thrashed by a duo for allegedly stealing a mobile phone has come to light in Mumbai after videos of the episode, shot on a railway platform and the coach of a local train, went viral.

The videos of the purported incident, which are circulating on social media and have also been aired on news channels, show the two men striping the youths and whipping them with their belts.


However, the time and exact location of the incident could not be ascertained immediately. When contacted, a railway official said it was an old video which appears to have been shot by some passengers and uploaded on Whatsapp.

But nobody has come forward to lodge a compliant or inform police about the matter, the official said. "We are examining the CCTV footage at various stations to trace the persons behind the attack. The matter is being probed," he added.

The youths are seen begging for mercy even as the men use cuss words and accuse them of stealing a mobile phone. Another video shows the same youths purportedly being roughed up inside a train compartment by the same duo.
