The cyber crime cell of Chandigarh police has arrested a 22-year-old woman for sending vulgar text messages to her former female employer, police sources said on Tuesday.

According to the police, they received a complaint from Anu Sharma, resident of neighbouring Panchkula town, that an unknown person had been sending her lewd messages on her mobile phone for the last four to five months.

"During the investigation we found that a woman named Sonia, who was pretending to be a man, was sending vulgar messages to Anu. Sonia is a resident of Zirakpur town (around 10 km from here) and was earlier working in a private company run by the complainant here in Sector 34," Amanjot Singh, inspector in the cyber crime cell, told IANS Tuesday.

"After taking legal opinion we have booked the woman and arrested her. From the preliminary investigations, it seems that she was doing this to settle personal scores with the complainant," the police official added.

As per police sources, Sonia was fired from her job, without citing any reason, about six months ago. She then obtained a mobile SIM card after furnishing fake identity proof and started sending lewd messages to her former boss.

During the last five months, she had sent nearly 170 lewd messages to the complainant.
