Thane: A vehicle crashed into a divider on the Dhaneshwar Nagar Bridge in Thane (West) on Wednesday morning causing a mile-high fountain after it knocked off a valve connected to the underground pipeline. The motorist then sped off.
The incident came to light after the Thane Municipal Corporation’s Disaster Management Cell received a call at 2 am regarding the pipeline burst. Repair work on the valve to stop the leakage went on for an hour.

The incident happened around 1.50 am when a speeding vehicle, moving downwards on the Dhaneshwar Nagar Bridge in Thane West, crashed into the divider opposite Rajshree Shahu Maharaj School. Beneath the divider is the water pipeline that supplies drinking water to Thane West.
The valve of the pipeline is positioned above the divider. When it was knocked off, the water came gushing out and flooded the road leading to lakhs of litres of drinking water going to waste.
