In a major decision, the academic council of University of Pune (UoP) has cleared the way of Fergusson College (FC) getting an autonomous status
“The academic council has unanimously given approval to FC’s autonomy. Now, the proposal will move to University Grants Commission (UGC). After a visit by UGC’s committee in the next six months, the college will become autonomous,” said Dr WN Gade, vice-chancellor of UoP.

The V-C explained that till now UoP has received application of autonomy only from FC.
In other decisions, the academic council has given consent to preparation of study material for external students, as announced by Gade last month.u00a0
