The courses will be compulsory for all undergraduate departments, and all colleges affiliated to the UoP will need to start the courses. Vishwas Gaikwad, controller, BCUD, stated that the revised curriculum will have at least 25 to 50 per cent new content and will be cleared by the respective boards of studies, faculties and the academic council. He said this was being done to meet the job market’s expectations. The last revision of the first-year undergraduate courses was done in 2008-09.u00a0

“We also plan to implement the credit system at the PG institutions outside the UoP campus, which is being delayed and overdue for some reasons,” Gaikwad said. Last week, the department also proposed to introduce 16 new courses, including master’s degree in hotel management and catering technology, hospital management, MSc in medicinal chemistry and drugs design, nano science and nanotechnology, postgraduate course in genetics, Hindi translation, Sanskrit among others, in the academic year 2012-13.u00a0
