Drug peddler mocks the law despite being arrested thrice in the past two years

A Nigerian national, who has been arrested by the crime branch thrice in two years for peddling cocaine in the city, is making a mockery of the system as he continues to push the drug unabated through his network of foreign student couriers.

Hathim and Mohammedu00a0 confessed that they were working for Jo alias Pappajo since the past one and a half year

The incident came to light when sleuths of the narcotics wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) nabbed two Jordanians red-handed, while they were selling cocaine near a coffee shop in Indira Nagar.

The police recovered cocaine worth Rs 15 lakh from them and during a detailed enquiry, the duo identified as Abdul Hathim Al Ali and Ahmed Mohammed Hasan confessed that they were working as couriers for Jo alias Pappajo since the past one and a half year.

They also informed that his network is expansive and most of the couriers are male foreign students, who are paid handsomely in cash as well as drugs for their services.

Assistant Commissioner of Police R Lakshman said that Pappajo has been arrested thrice for smuggling and peddling drugs in the last two years and every time he manages to secure bail.

"Each time he just goes back to continue his business, all the while expanding his base and network of couriers in the city," he said.

Before their arrest, another Nigerian identified as Jimmy, who is Pappajo's right hand man, was handling the duo. We are on the lookout for these two to track the smuggling racket to its roots, Lakshman added.
