Waghmare said he was riding his bike on the hospital precincts, when Kamble, escorted by a police constable, suddenly appeared in front of his bike. "This happened near Ward No 26 at 1 pm. I brought my bike to a halt immediately. I don't know why, but Kamble attacked me and hit me with his fists and kicked me on my head and chest," Waghmare said. "I am scared my life may be in danger if I lodge a complaint. Even the police are reluctant file a FIR."
Police Constable Mahagale, who escorted Kamble, said it was Waghmare who had initiated the fight. Ganpat Jakhde, another relative of the patient, said that the police who bring the accused to the hospital, give them a lot of liberty and so they create problems. "This is the third such incident in the last two months," Jakhde said. "All these go unreported because the victims do not want to get into hassles with the prisoners or the police." Kamble said he was being framed in the matter. "It was Waghmare who attacked me." he said.
