Atleast two people were killed and 15 others were injured after brakes of a Karnataka private bus failed near the Adoshi tunnel at the Mumbai-Pune Expressway on Thursday morning, Khopoli police said

Atleast two people were killed and 15 others were injured after brakes of a Karnataka private bus failed near the Adoshi tunnel at the Mumbai-Pune Expressway on Thursday morning, Khopoli police said.

One of the deceased has been identified as Jitu Chavan while the identification process of the others is still underway.

According to Expressway control attendant, "The private bus was plying from Karnataka to Mumbai and the incident happened at 8.30 am on Mumbai-Pune Expressway near Adoshi tunnel in Khopoli. Primary investigations revealed that after brakes failed, the driver lost control of the bus which then rammed at the road divider and landed on the bridge. The bus was pulled with the help of a pulley."

He added, "the injured have been rushed to Panvel hospital while the dead bodies are at Khalapur hospital."
