BE it state heads or actors or highly-acclaimed musicians, Incredible India seems to top the destination of choice list this year. French President Nicholas Sarkozy is coming to renew the romance with Carla Bruni in front of the Taj Mahal, Katy Perry exchanged vows with Russell Brand in Ranthambore and US President Barack Obama came to salvage his country's falling economy.

While this isn't the first time, but DJ Armin van Duuren's visit to India is kicking up quite a frenzy. The last time he was here, in Sunburn 2009 in Goa, DJ Armin played to a crowd of over 24,000 people. Voted as the world's best by DJ Mag for three consecutive years, Armin is coming to India again.

Crowd calling
Armin still remembers coming to India on a Submerge tour where he played to packed clubs. "Over 1,000 people were outside," he says.

This is Armin's third visit to India and he is quite excited about it. Does he think the Indian audiences are ready for his performance? "Yes, I think they are quite ready for trance. Earlier when I played (Sunburn 2009) there were more than 24,000 people in the audience," he says.

Here's a bio
Born in Leiden, The Netherlands, Armin had initially taken up law after high school and that's when his love for music developed. Eventually, he started working as a DJ in Nexus, a local club.

The love for music, though, was always there. He spent all the money he earned on records. When he was10, his mother won a computer, which whipped up his interest.

Music is the food of love
"So as a little nerdy kid I was writing my own basic programs and learnt about the technology from there," he says. He progressed from making mix tapes for friends to experimenting with different sequences on his computer through his uncle. "I was so stunned by what I saw him doing on the computer, that I got addicted to creating music right there and then," says the DJ.

"I loved dance music immediately -- this great rebellious sound that was so different," he adds. Electronic pioneer Jean Michel Jarre is a major influence, as well as Dutch producer Ben Liebrand, who later mentored him.
