Jamshedpur: Train services between Howrah-Mumbai railway route was disrupted in Chakradhar division of South Eastern Railway this evening as uprooted trees fell on the railway tracks after a Nor'wester lashed the area.


Uprooted trees fell on the railway tracks between Sini and Gamariah station and Mahalimurup-Sini station of Jharkhand under Chakradharpur division of South Eastern Railway this evening, Railway officials said.


All trains including long-distance express trains were stranded at different stations due to the storm, they said.


Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Chakradharpur Division) A K Agarwala said the restoration work was on and the uprooted trees which fell on tracks between Sini-Gamariah have been removed.

The Railway personnel were engaged to restore the rail services between Sini-Mahalimurup station, he said, adding, five trains on the down line and four on the up line were stranded as efforts were on to normalise the train services soon.

Jamshedpur and its surrounding areas have received 9.4 mm of rainfall till 5.30 pm as the Nor'wester hit this evening.
