Whether anybody else learns from Bollywood plots or not, thieves in Delhi are being inspired.

A gang of thieves struck a colony in Mayur Vihar on the night of February 28 and taking a cue from the movie Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye, drugged the street dogs before making a getaway with 30 car stereos.

The proof that the thieves had drugged the dogs came from the fact that the next day the residents discovered that one of the animals had died and another was unwell.

"While one dog had died another was found to be ill the day after the theft. Many stray dogs were found in an unconscious state the next morning. May be the thieves had fed them something so that they remained silent at night," said President of the Resident Welfare Association MK Kak.

However, the police do not buy the dog-drugging theory. "We are investigating but have not found any such evidence yet," said a senior police official of east district.
