Businessman went missing from Sarita Vihar in south Delhi on Friday evening

When the family of Vinod Kumar Bansal, the owner of a construction company in Delhi, was celebrating the arrival of two newborns, little did they know what was awaiting them.

The 52-year-old businessman had promised his family that he would be back home in an hour after he left his house at Greater Kailash area of south Delhi for Sarita Vihar to attend a meeting on Friday night. But when he didn't return after long and the family failed to reach him on mobile phone, they lodged a complaint at CR Park police station.

Two days later, the police are still clueless about the whereabouts of Bansal and his kidnappers. His car, a Toyota Corolla Altis, was found abandoned in Greater Noida's Pari Chowk area on Saturday morning. The car has been taken into custody by the Uttar Pradesh Police.

According to sources, cops found that Bansal's phone was active till Sarita Vihar area before it was switched off. Sources said the family received a ransom call of Rs 2 crore on Saturday evening. However, ACP (south east) Ajay Choudhury said the Bansals have not received any such call. Police has interrogated Bansal's family and those who worked for him. Choudhury added that there has been no breakthrough in the case.
How it unfoldded
A driver, working with Bansal's daughter's in-laws, Tarachand, said, "One of the drivers of the Bansals, Lippo Pandey, had driven him to Nehru Place in a Honda City from his residence on Friday evening. On the way back, he dropped Pandey at Chirag Delhi and drove himself to Max Hospital in Saket. After visiting his daughter, Ayushi Garg, and her baby in the hospital, he went back home.u00a0 He parked the Honda City and took the Toyota Corolla Altis instead to go to Sarita Vihar where he had to attend a meeting about which he had told the family."

Bansal's driver Lippo Pandey said, "There are three drivers, including me, working for the family. One of us has been appointed to drive for the office, one for the family and another for his son. They have three cars, including a BMW which is used only in special occasions."u00a0

He added, "Mr Bansal told his family that he was going to Sarita Vihar at night. When he didn't return home, they called him on his mobile but his phone was switched off. Then they called the police." Bansal's relatives are very disturbed as the tragedy happened at a time when they were all preparing for something very auspicious, the naming of his son's newborn child. A relative of Bansal said he is a very kind person and never indulged in any kind conflict with anyone.
