DMRC chief orders immediate survey of all Metro lines to check for faults

The tremors from Sunday and Monday's Metro accidents are still being felt through the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). On Monday, the organisation ordered an immediate survey of all its installations in the city, including its offices.

"After this accident the DMRC wants to leave no room for mistakes and has ordered a fresh survey of all lines and stations," said a senior DMRC official, wishing anonymity.

Delhi Metro's Chief Public Relation Officer Anuj Dayal was not available for comments but officials at the organisation said Metro chief E Sreedharan had held a meeting of all departmental heads on Monday morning, after his resignation was rejected by the Delhi government on Sunday night.

Sources said Sreedharan has also ordered a survey of the Phase II network that is under construction.

On Monday, six persons were injured when cranes clearing debris from the site of Sunday's Metro accident collapsed with a 200-tonne capacity crane toppling over under the impact.
