BSP leader criticising SP supremo and CM Akhilesh Yadav says law and order in the state has completely collapsed

SP has turned Uttar Pradesh into Crime Pradesh: Mayawati

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati yesterday billed the seven-month-old Akhilesh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh as an “utter failure” and alleged that goons of the ruling Samajwadi Party (SP) had let loose terror in the state.

Recalling before a gathering of thousands of supporters at the Ramabai ground how six months ago, she had predicted that people would soon repent their decision to vote the SP to power, the BSP leader warned against insults to Dalit icons and seers.

Pointing out how names of universities, institutions and parks were being changed and Dalits being harassed in the present regime, Mayawati warned officials not to toe the SP government line blindly.

She added that during her tenure she had never changed the names of government programmes, and resented that the Akhilesh Yadav government was reversing her orders out of “political vengeance”.

‘Anti-dalit’
Targeting arch rival and national president of the SP Mulayam Singh Yadav for opposing caste-based reservations in promotions, she said it was only because of the reservations that Mulayam Singh Yadav and his clan had made it big in politics and held several positions in governments.

“Had it not been for the constitutional provisions laid down by BR Ambedkar, Mulayam Singh Yadav and his family would be grazing cattle somewhere,” she said.

Accusing the Akhilesh Yadav government of taking credit for all the projects that were undertaken during her regime, Mayawati said, “This government has nothing to show as performance and is hinged on mere announcements.”

She added that Uttar Pradesh has been turned into a “Crime Pradesh” and that law and order has completely collapsed in the state.

Mayawati told her supporters how the gangsters and criminals who were behind bars during her government were now ruling the roost.

“People are afraid to send their daughters out in the evenings,” she added. Referring to the communal riots and tensions in many places, she said during her five-year rule, communal harmony was maintained at all costs.

Mayawati also accused the Akhilesh Yadav government of spending exorbitantly on the launch of such schemes. “I am keeping track of everything and will not spare anyone opposed to us when we come back to power,” she said.u00a0
