With the city's top cop Gulabrao Pol stating that case falls under the jurisdiction of Khed taluka, officials of the Pune Rural police yesterday said that they would send a report within eight days to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC)

Rural police to send report in eight days

The NHRC has called for Pol’s arrest after Kisan Namdev Ghodke, a resident of Saburdi village in Khed Taluka, approached them, alleging inaction by local police in the case of abduction and killing of his son on 30th April, 2007 by some persons.u00a0

The NHRC had asked the state chief secretary to order the arrest of city’s police commissioner for not responding to the summons issued by the commission in the Ghodke murder case. However, the city police immediately clarified that the case fell under jurisdiction of Pune Rural Police.

Superintendent of Police (Pune Rural) Manoj Lohiya said, “We had sent a report to the NHRC in January, 2013 and were expecting the matter to be referred to the SC/ST commission. Later, in May 2013 we had received another summon regarding the same case, but it asked us to ignore it, if the report was already filed. So we didn’t inform the commission separately.”u00a0
