Designer Anita Dongre who is well-known for her unique creations and recently designed actress Eesha Koppikhar's wedding costumes has set up her first shop in the city. This move reflects a new fashion trend with Pune being chosen by several national designers for their new boutiques.
The significant youth population could be one of the factors in its favour. "Pune is a young city with a huge student population and it is interesting to observe what the young wear and whether trends are here to stay or not," observes Dongre.u00a0
Range: AND is a western wear shop displaying formals, tops, shirts, denims, leggings, bottoms, tunics, one-piece dresses, skirts, stoles and scarfs. The designer's USP is the vibrancy of her costumes, which come in a riot of colours. Though, one may end up shelling more than usual, they are worth every penny.
Ambience:u00a0 AND is painted in white and done up in wood, which gives it an elegant, neat look. The costumes are beautifully displayed and there are attendants at hand to guide you. A wooden table in the middle of the room doubles up as a prop to display stoles and scarves.
On display: Once you enter, to the right is the winter-wear collection of dresses and tops. It mostly features clothes in grey and red. We loved a knee-length Rayon dress in grey.
To the left is the party-wear with outfits in black, white and grey. We liked a satin purple-coloured sleeveless top and a grey tube top (pity it's a slim fit). The white linen tops with elaborate thread work was elegant.
Several of the outfits are in bright colours such as green, yellow, orange and blue, which can cheer up even the most jaded soul. The casual tops in multiple colours and designs are a good buy as well. They can be mixed and matched with jeans, leggings or harem pants. Semi-formal tops are available in lighter shades and we fell in love with the cowl neck tops in single colours. The stoles and scarves were also very stylish and trendy.u00a0
