National Commission for Women member Nirmala Venkatesh is in spotlight again for all the wrong reasons. Upset with the report of Nirmala on the Mangalore pub incident, the ministry of women and child development issued a notice seeking an explanation for her remarks on the recent pub attack and for dereliction of duty, yesterday.


NCW today rejected the report filed by Nirmala where she had put the onus on lax security at the pub.
At a meeting in New Delhi, today, the chairperson of the commission Girija Vyasu00a0also indicated that a top official from the union women and child development ministry has given a spot report and a new fact-finding team will not visit the place where the attack took place.


Nirmala had led a team to Mangalore after the incident in which Shriram Sena activists beat up girls allegedly. Following the visit, Nirmala had blamed the pub owner for the incident and stated that the incident had taken place due to lack of security in the pub.


She had earned a lot of flak after submittingu00a0the report and even the Minister for Women and Child Development, Renuka Chaudhary had questioned the report. However, Nirmala decided to go on the offensive and challenged the minister to act against her.
