New Delhi: Railways on Monday opened the Old Yamuna bridge for rail traffic, closed for the the last two days due to the rising water level in the Yamuna river. The rail traffic earlier suspended temporarily on Old Yamuna bridge due to the flood situation in the Yamuna, has been opened today, said a senior Northern Railway official.

The closure of the Old Yamuna bridge had affected the services of more than 100 trains since August 13 evening. While many trains were diverted to other routes, some were also cancelled.
The official said all the trains of this section will now run on its scheduled route. However, he said keeping in view the safety aspects, speed restriction of 10 KMPH on both lines has been imposed on train movement.
