Nagpur: The Nagpur Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Saturday arrested three youth including an engineer at the Nagpur Airport who were planning to join the ISIS.


In the joint operation with Hyderabad intelligence police officer, the ATS Nagpur had zerod down three youth at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport on wee hours of Saturday. 


According to the Nagpur ATS, the arrested people are from Telangana and were going to Jammu and Kashmir.


An ATS officer on the condition of anonymity told mid-day, "The trio have been identified as Abdul Basit, Amar Hazan Farukh and Maz Hasan Farukh and they are Telanagana residents. They are around 23 to 25-year-old. Abdul is an Arts graduate, while Amar is a science graduate. Maz is an engineer with a B.Tech degree. They were missing from a week and had planned to travel to Srinagar in Jammu Kashmir via Nagpur. Our team was monitoring their suspicious movement."

He added, "The three were in touch with ISIS members and were keen to be part of the ISIS movement. They were also in contact with members via social networking sites. They were influenced by some of the ISIS videos and a preacher of ISIS. Their travel plans included travelling to Srinagar first then Pakistan, Afghanistan and Turkey. They were nabbed at Nagpur Airport and then they were handed over to Hyderabad police. They are now travelling back to Hyderabad for further investigation".

Earlier, a 16-year-old college girl, who was allegedly in touch with arrested Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) executive Mohammed Sirajuddin, was put under surveillance for her suspected links with the ISIS in Pune.

She was assured by ISIS sympathisers that she will get admission in medical college in Syria.
