A group of nature lovers and volunteers with the Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) invite like-minded city junta for a tree walk at the zoo. This two-hour trail will cover the entire 53-acre space. The leader of the walk, Dr Usha Desai, hopes to educate and inspire with interesting tree-related stories in one of the city's last surviving green lungs. The walk will be led by Dr Desai, ably supported by Dr Sheila Tanna, Renee Vyas, Katie Bagli and Shubhada Nikharge. "We wanted to share our love for trees. It's our second walk here. Previously, we covered other parks and green spaces in the city," says Nikharge. The group is expecting between 25-30 participants for this walk. While the walk is free, there is an entry fee for the zoo.

If you've been bitten by the theatre bug, its time to join the epidemic. If you're under 25 and looking for an opportunity to show off your theatrical skills, don't miss this orientation meet. Actors, directors, scriptwriters, set designers Thespo is looking for talent across the board. They will be selecting four to eight plays for Thespo XII, a youth theatre festival to be held in December, and this is your chance to be in the thick of things. "If you're an actor without a play or have a script but no cast, drop in," says Quasar Thakore Padamsee, member, Team Thespo. They won't start screening the plays until October so you have that much time to polish your production, he explains. It isn't a test or an audition. "We're not looking at resum ufffds," smiles Quasar.

Starting August 1, Mujeeb Khan's theatre group IDEA (Ideal Drama and Entertainment Academy) will stage 50 of Munshi Premchand's plays to celebrate the literary icon's birth anniversary, which falls on July 31. Theatre buffs can get a daily dose of as many as six plays, staged daily. The five year-old dynamic theatre group, which includes Ruslaan Mumtaz and Manisha Kelkar, holds the record for staging the maximum number of plays by the literary great. Annually, 52 plays of Munshi Premchand are staged every week. "Today's society needs Premchand's works we hope to use theatre as a medium to remind people of our rich literature," explains Khan.
