Singer and music director Vishal Dadlani may love naach gaana, but if the timing is not right, he spares no one. Last night, the Mumbai Police was at the receiving end of Dadlani's anger after he was unable to reach the 100 helpline to register a complaint against blaring music from a Ganesh celebration. Ironically, the din was being raised inside a building in Tardeo Police Colony. He sent a series of tweets to the Mumbai police handle, to which the cops later responded saying that the helpline was "working fine".
Twitter users, facing a similar situation, came out in support of the Bollywood composer.
"If the noise-fest has been officially permitted, pls tell us who granted permission & how!" Dadlani tweeted late last night. The singer was referring to the Environment Protection Act, 1986, and Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000, which ban the use of loudspeakers or public address systems between 10 pm and 6 am in Mumbai.
Moments later, he sent another Tweet, "@MumbaiPolice loudspeakers blaring in the Tardeo Police Colony. Noise-reading of 82db on the 25th floor! It's 10.22pm. How's this allowed?"
Dadlani did not stop. When he tried to reach 100, the police helpline and wasn't able to get through, he shot another angry tweet, "@MumbaiPolice your 100 "emergency" number is impossible to reach. Each time I've dialled, it just goes blank. How does anyone get in touch?"

The city police's social media cell was quick to take note. "We checked with the control room. 100 is working fine. We will analyse the connection problem. Pls DM us your number. We will revert," said the reply,
After Dadlani brought the issue to light, several Mumbaikars took to Twitter to complain about the 'out of order' police helpline and blatant violation of noise rules. One user, Anita Pullokkaran, tweeted, "@MumbaiPolice @VishalDadlani the control room number which is 100 seems to be out of order.
My parents had to suffer - pre-Ganpati rehearsal."
Another Twitter user, Pradeep Sur, said, "Right outside Shubhkamna society, M.D.Keni road, Nahur E... Followed up with control room but no luck and it is 1.5 hours over time limit."
