The missing children — Rihan (7) and Zoya (4) — were last seen at their home in Sant Naneshwar Nagar at 10 am on Friday, the police said. Their mother Salma Ansari looked all over the locality for the children, but when they did not return for two days, she approached the police.

A case of kidnapping has been registered with Kherwadi police station and multiple police teams have been looking for the children since Sunday.

"We have spoken to all the family members of the complainant and also inquired with their neighbours and friends. But no one recalls where the children went,” said Sujata Patil, Senior Inspector, Kherwadi police station.

According to a report in Indian Express, the mother Salma does not suspect anyone to be responsible for the disappearance. The police have put up missing persons' posters all over Bandra East and also distributed photographs of the children to all police stations in the city.

"We are also searching along the banks of the Mithi river, which flows close to the home of the complainant," Patil said.
