The adalat will be attended by senior passport officials, between 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM at Regional Passport Office (old office) in suburban Worli. Such adalat was earlier conducted on December 2 last year wherein 91 applications were dispose of.
"Applicants who had applied for passport before three months back and in whose cases police verification or clearance reports are received, but still the delivery (of passport) is pending, are eligible to take advantage of the adalat," a statement released by Deputy Passport Officer said.
The participants can register their complaints in writing with the passport office or through email atrpo.mumbai@mea.gov.in before April 5, and then come to the office at the specified time with original documents. The official recalled that scores of passport applicants had satisfactorily availed the adalat services last occasion.
He said frequency of such adalats has gone down marginally as the department has adopted a mechanism for speedy delivery of passports.
"Our regional office processes almost 3,000 passport applications per day and setting up of three Passport Suvidha Kendras (PSK) have expedited the issuance of passport. Still, some technical issues arise that are sorted out in passport adalat which is directly heard by the senior-most officials," said the officer.
