The one-of-its kind feat has catapulted Indrajeet Vasant More, who is a district-level kabaddi player from a village near Sangli, to instant celebrityhood

Mumbai: 15-year-old scores exactly 35 in all six SSC papers!

While Mumbai has been busy celebrating the success of students who have scored marks in the high 80s and 90s, in a village 10 km from Sangli, banners have been put up to congratulate Indrajeet Vasant More, who scored 35%.

Before you dismiss the 15-year-old’s feat as nothing out of the ordinary, consider this: More, the epitome of consistency, scored the magic figure of 35 the absolute minimum required for passing in every single subject.

This, coupled with the facts that the teenager’s main interest lies in kabaddi and access to quality education is virtually non-existent in his tiny village have made More a celebrity.

Not only has he become a hot topic of discussion on WhatsApp groups, television journalists have been queuing up to do features on him and colleges have reportedly flooded him with admission offers.

‘Thankful’
The district-level kabaddi player, who is a resident of Arjunwad, a small village in Shirol Taluka, told mid-day that he expected higher marks, but is grateful that he passed. “I expected 50 per cent but I’m thankful that I managed to clear the exams.

Television channels and journalists have been calling us since Monday and taking interviews of my parents and me,” said More. More’s father, Vasant, who works in the water department of the Sangli Miraj Kupwad Municipal Corporation says, “We have been flooded with offers from colleges from nearby areas like Shirol and Sangli.

We are happy that he has cleared the exams as he used to devote most of his time to the game and did not study much. He did not take any tuitions and used to take guidance from my nephew, Amol More.” Even the authorities from More’s school Dattajirao Kadam High School in Shirol have congratulated him on his success.

One mark less...
“We are happy that he has passed. Had he scored even one mark less, he would have failed. I have invited Indrajeet’s family and all our relatives for aamras-puri on Sunday to celebrate his success.

Everyone has been calling me to inquire whether my nephew really got exactly 35 marks in all six subjects. It is a one-of-its-kind feat,” said Amol More, who taught Indrajeet and works with the Dr J J Magdum college of Polytechnic in Jaysingpur.
