Valentine Day 'threat' mail from Bajrang Dal

Delhi's moral police have announced its Valentine Day plans.

The Capital's leading nightclubs and resorts on Wednesday started getting letters (eru00e2u0080u00a6not exactly in shiny pink envelopes) from the Bajrang Dal, urging them not to patronise "nakedness and indecency" on their premises.

"At around 6.30 pm, three-four people came and handed over the letter to our security guards. This was followed by phone calls warning us to face consequences if any Valentine celebration takes place at our resort.
We have lodged a police complaint," said Anil Tandon, executive director of Tivoli Resort, a luxurious club.

But Bajrang Dal downplays it. "This is not a threat but an advice," said Vinod Bansal, state spokesperson for Bajrang Dal and VHP.

"We are not against love. We believe all 365 days are for love. After all, we are a prem pujari country," said Vinod Bansal, state spokesperson for Bajrang Dal and VHP. "This should not be considered a threat but an advice. We have sent this letter to all pubs, restaurants and hotels of the city as well as the police."

He ran the same lines that right-wing Hindu organisations had made their signature.

"The concept of Valentine's Day is a not in sync with the Indian culture and tradition. The celebrations promote obscenity and vulgarity. Youngsters should not act against their heritage," Bansal said.
