Mumbai to get together, and for Mumbaikars to see hot wheels zooming across Mumbai roads. Sponsored by Shell Helix Motor Oils in collaboration with HSBC and Grey Goose, the show will feature only sports cars and, "only those that fall over the Rs 80 lakh bracket," says auto expert and organiser Hormazd Sorabjee.
She'll be waiting at Kala Ghoda: About 40 of the most exotic cars in the city Ferraris, Porsches, Lamborghinis, Audis, Bentleys, Mercedes and Rolls Royces will be open to scrutiny of visitors at the Kala Ghoda parking lot before the rally flags off. To give us an idea of the opulence that will be on display at the Parx Super Car Show, Hormazd shares, "Lamborghinis cost Rs 20,000,000 onwards, the Rolls Royce Phantom is priced at Rs 40,000,000 onwards, Ferraris would cost in excess of Rs 20,000,000 and the Audi R8 costs about Rs 13,000,000 onwards."
Rhapsody on wheels: There's more to these beauties than their bodies, Hormazd tells us. "It would be a crime to have a high-end music system in a Ferrari. The sound of its engine, the quartet of those pipes, is all one really needs to take in." The Porsche is characterized by a throaty sound, while the Mercedes engine has a distant rumble.
Steal a look: The convoy will move through Nariman Point and past Wankhede Stadium, through Chowpatty to Walkeshwar and Napeansea Road, before proceeding to Breach Candy, Haji Ali and Worli Naka to Siddhivinayak. The return route will see the cars move through Peddar Road. If you live in these areas, it's a good idea to pull up a chair on your balcony.
