Man involved in bike accident runs away from hospital to evade arrest

A man, who got injured after his two-wheeler allegedly rammed into another motorcyle killing the biker, ran away from the hospital he was admitted to in order to evade arrest

A man, who got injured after his two-wheeler allegedly rammed into another motorcyle killing the biker, ran away from the hospital he was admitted to in order to evade arrest.

He then got himself admitted to the Military Hospital in Khadki.

The biker who died in the accident was taken to the Sassoon General Hospital and was declared dead on arrival. The identity of the deceased is yet to be established. The victim was a well-built manu00a0 in his mid-twenties.

The police have identified the biker who caused the accident as Dinesh Manoj Pandey (21), a resident of Shewale towers in Khadki. A case of negligent and rash driving has been registered against him.

Pandey was heading towards Khadki from Mula Road on his Activa bike on Monday night. When he reached the St Joseph school, he collided head-on with another bike on a CBZ bike, the Khadki police said.

Pandey had suffered minor injuries and was taken to the Cantonment Hospital, while the other biker was shifted to the Sassoon hospital. Doctors at Sasoon declared the accident victim dead on arrival.

Police Constable R G Mahale from the Khadki police station saw the accident while he was patrolling the area.

Mahale informed the police station about the accident and rushed the injured men to theu00a0 hospital.

"Pandey ran away from the Cantonment Hospital in Khadki to evade arrest. However, when he reached the Military Hospital, the doctors there asked about the injuries he had received. They got suspicious and informed the Khadki police about Pandey," said Police Sub-Inspector Pratap Pawar. "The identity of the deceased is not known yet and the investigation is on. Both the vehicles have been seized. The suspect will be arrested after he is discharged from the hospital."
